Working Hand in Hand with Nature
Arla’s farmer owners are dedicated not only to producing nutritious, delicious milk, but also to finding new farming practices that reduce their impact on the environment.
Responsible for thousands of hectares of land, Arla farmers are ideally placed to improve biodiversity. Through a new initiative called ReNature, around 60 of our organic farms will undergo remote habitat assessments to implement practices that improve nature.
Our Approach
We build long-term partnerships with conservation organisations and commercial partners to drive meaningful change. Through the ReNature programme, we will actively protect, restore, and enhance natural ecosystems - improving biodiversity and promoting healthy habitats.
Partnership Spotlight
McDonald’s and Arla have worked together since 1987, with McDonald’s investing nearly £1 million to support Arla farmers, accelerate regenerative agriculture, and share knowledge across the industry. McDonald’s is a key partner in the ReNature programme, working hand in hand with Arla to support biodiversity on organic farms.
Will Tizzard, an Arla and McDonald’s farmer, explains:
“As organic dairy farmers, we’ve seen first-hand how focusing on soil health and biodiversity strengthens our herds and our businesses. Partnering with McDonald’s through our FarmAhead™ Programme and the ReNature project means we can measure what’s working and keep improving. It’s encouraging to have a customer investing in practical, nature-led solutions on farm - support that helps us deliver high-quality milk today while building a more resilient, sustainable future.”
