Arla creates a more sustainable future for dairy

As part of Arla’s journey to climate net zero by 2050, we have key milestones to reduce our scope 1&2 emissions by 63% by 2030 (against a 2015 baseline).

Our targets have been approved by the Science-Based Target initiative as being consistent with action required to achieve 1.5°C.

The future of dairy

Taking action for a better future

At Arla, we strive to build a better future for generations to come. We believe that protecting the environment is essential to producing products that support a nutritious, sustainable diet, and we are taking action.

We are constantly taking steps to achieve our goals, from reducing CO2e emissions on our farms and supporting natural eco-systems, to reducing waste in our operations and bringing our customers the goodness of dairy through nutritious products and education programmes.

We know that there is more to be done, and we are ready to face challenges the future brings. We believe that the actions we take today will support a Stronger Planet and enable Stronger People for years to come.

Our global ambition

1. Science based target of 30% reduction in CO2e from 2015-2030 which includes:
  • Scope 1&2: 30% absolute reduction in our greenhouse emissions
  • Scope 3: 30% reduction in greenhouse emissions per kg of raw milk.
2. Carbon net zero by 2050

These are two important goals in our global ambition. However, our ambition does not end there. In each of the sub sections under our plan to support a healthier planet and enable stronger people, we'll be describing our ambition for that particular topic in more detail.

Arla contributes to the realisation of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Arla contributes to the realisation of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The SDGs are closely linked and we influence all of them, through our general business practices and commitments. We focus our efforts towards the SDGs relating to food, environment and climate, as they are directly linked to our value chain. In the sub sections under Stronger Planet and Stronger People we state on which SDGs our actions have the biggest impact.
