Indulge in the classic combination of juicy plums and sweet apples with this easy-to-make recipe for lactose-free apple crumble with plums. Topped with a crispy, nutty oat crumble, and served with a decadent dollop of lactose-free crème fraiche, this warm and comforting dessert is perfect for any occasion. Too good to resist!

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • With your fingertips, rub together whole wheat flour, rolled oats, ground flaxseed, hazelnuts, pecans, coconut sugar, cinnamon, and lactose-free spreadable butter until you have a breadcrumb consistency. Set aside.
  • Place apples and plums into an oven-proof dish and mix with maple syrup and lemon juice.
  • Sprinkle the crumble topping over to cover the fruit. Transfer to the oven and bake for 30 minutes or until golden.
  • Serve with a dollop of lactose-free crème fraiche.

The key to a good crumble topping is to combine the ingredients until they form large, coarse crumbs. Mix the topping by hand with cold butter until it resembles wet sand or breadcrumbs.

It is delicious when served warm, almost straight out of the oven. However, make sure to let it cool for a few minutes before serving to allow the filling to set and the topping to crisp up.
