Spiced Apple Pie

This easy to make spiced apple pie adds a flavoursome twist to your normal classic apple pie by introducing a handful of spices including cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg. Topped with hazelnuts to add an extra crunch, this spiced apple pie makes for a truly comforting sweet dish.

Ingredients

4 Apples
40 g Caster sugar
1 pinch Ground cinnamon
1 tsp Ground ginger
1 pinch Ground nutmeg
150 g Cold butter
100 g Chopped hazelnuts
180 g Wheat flour
40 g Caster sugar
250 ml Vanilla whipped cream

Instructions

Step 1

  • Heat the oven to 225 °.

Step 2

  • Rub the flour and butter together and add in the hazelnuts and sugar, work into a soft dough. Core the apples and grate roughly and then mix with the sugar and spices.

Step 3

  • Put the apple mixture in a greased oven-proof dish, about 22 cm in diameter.

Step 4

  • Roll out the to dough to make a ""cover"" over the apples.

Step 5

  • Bake in the middle of the oven for about 20 minutes. Allow to cool slightly and serve with lightly whipped vanilla whisk.
