Spaghetti Meatballs in Tomato Sauce

This combination never goes out of fashion. Pasta, tomato and meatballs are loved by everyone.

Ingredients

Meatballs

400 g Minced pork (About 12% Fat)
1 tsp Coarse salt
Freshly Ground pepper
2 Finely Chopped White white onions (Approximately 100g)
150 ml Milk
3 tbsp Wheat flour

Tomato Sauce

25 g Butter
4 White white onions, Roughly Chopped (Approximately 200g)
2 Cans Of chopped tomatoes (About 800g)
1 tsp Sugar
1 tsp Coarse salt
3 litres Water
1 tbsp Coarse salt
350 g Spaghetti
40 g Freshly Chopped fresh parsley
50 g Grated cheese

Instructions

Step 1

  • Stir the mincemeat with salt and pepper for approximately 1 minute.

Step 2

  • Add onions. Stir in the milk and then the flour. Cover the mixture and place in the refrigerator for approximately ½ hour.

Step 3

  • Melt the butter in a pan on a high heat, be careful not to burn. Cook the onions for approximately 1 minute. Add the chopped tomatoes, sugar and salt.

Step 4

  • Bring the sauce to the boil, cover, and reduce the heat to medium, cook for approximately 3 minutes.

Step 5

  • Taste the tomato sauce and adjust the flavours to your taste.

Step 6

  • Remove the mincemeat from the fridge and shape into 16 small meatballs - the size of walnuts. Place them gently in the pan of tomato sauce.

Step 7

  • Cover and cook the meatballs on a low heat for approximately 10 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat and leave the meatballs, still with the lid on, for approximately 5 minutes.

Step 8

  • Pour water and some salt into a large pan and place on a high heat to boil the water. Add the spaghetti once the water is boiling and cook the spaghetti for 8-10 minutes.

Step 9

  • Drain the spaghetti in a colander. Serve the spaghetti and meatballs with tomato sauce on warm plates, sprinkle with parsley and cheese then serve immediately.
