  • Bake the lactose-free lasagne in the lower part of the oven for about 30 minutes.

Tip

Take your time to layer the lasagne sauces evenly and make sure to spread the meat sauce and white sauce to the edges to prevent the lasagne sheets from drying out when baked. This way you get the lovely tender texture.

Tip

It is also important to let the lactose-free lasagne rest for at least 10-15 minutes after taking it out of the oven. This allows the flavours to meld together perfectly. It also makes it easier to cut into neat slices and prevents eager eaters from burning themselves on the very hot dish.

Can you make lactose-free lasagne ahead of time?
Yes, you can definitely make lasagna in advance! In fact, some argue that lasagna tastes even better when made ahead of time, as the flavours have a chance to meld together. There are 2 ways to do it. You can prepare and bake the lasagne as instructed in the recipe. Once it is cooled down, you can cover and refrigerate it for later. You can also assemble the lasagne, but instead of baking, cover it tightly with cling film or foil and refrigerate it until you are ready to bake it, ideally no later than 1-2 days.
Can you freeze lactose-free lasagne?
Yes, you can freeze lactose-free lasagne. The key is to allow it to cool completely before freezing it. Once it has cooled, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or aluminium foil and place it in an airtight container or freezer bag. When properly stored, you can freeze it for up to 3 months. When you are ready to eat it, let it thaw overnight in the fridge and then reheat it in the oven until it is hot and bubbly. You can also freeze your uncooked lactose-free lasagne. This may result in fewer structural changes. You do not need to defrost it before baking it but allow for a longer cooking time.
How long can lactose-free lasagne last in the fridge?
If stored correctly, lactose-free lasagne can generally last 3-5 days in the fridge. The best way to store it is to place it in an airtight container. It is important to let it cool to room temperature before refrigerating it. This helps prevent the growth of bacteria. Additionally, make sure the container is tightly sealed to prevent any unwanted odours from contaminating the dish.
