Yogurt bark FAQs

How do you make yogurt bark?

Yogurt bark is made by freezing yogurt so that it becomes hard and snappable. The yogurt is spread out on a baking sheet before being put in the freezer for several hours. Adding fruits, nuts, and other ingredients enhances the texture and flavour.

Do you eat yogurt bark frozen?

Yes, yogurt bark is frozen and will melt if left out too long. Once you’ve made your yogurt bark, you can break it into pieces and store them separately in the freezer for a grabbable snack whenever you want.

How long does yogurt bark last?

This sweet treat is best enjoyed when first frozen but retains its deliciousness for a couple of months after you make it. When properly stored in an airtight container, frozen yogurt bark will last up to three months in the freezer.

Why is my yogurt bark icy?

If your frozen yogurt bark turns out icy, this is most likely because of the yogurt’s high water content. Low-fat yogurt can also result in an icy texture. It’s best to use a thicker yogurt such as Greek yogurt or Skyr. You could also use honey to reduce the chance of ice crystals forming.

Other flavours to try with frozen yogurt bark

You can use any flavour of yogurt along with any toppings you like in this recipe. Mixed berries and chopped nuts work best, but you can also add extra seasonings, lemon or orange zest.
Try a lemon flavoured yogurt with raspberries and blueberries, or perhaps a cherry yogurt with peaches and plums. Just remember to go for yogurts with a thicker consistency for a smooth and creamy result.

How to store your frozen yogurt bark

Once you’ve made your frozen yogurt, it’ll keep for up to 3 months in the freezer when stored in an air-tight container. Once frozen, it’s a good idea to break it up into pieces. This makes it easier to grab a piece for a snack or portion some pieces out to serve for dessert.
