Soft Cake

Basic recipe for soft cake. Serve as it is or flavoured with your favourite spice - saffron, dried fruit or Christmas gingerbread spices. You can top the cake with a creamy frosting.


Step 1
  • Heat the oven to 175 °.

  • Grease an ovenproof dish that holds about 1.5 litres.
Step 3
  • Whisk the butter and sugar quickly, preferably with an electric whisk. Stir in the eggs one at a time.
Step 4
  • Mix flour, baking powder and vanilla sugar. Add in the flour mixture and sour cream. Stir quickly into a smooth batter.
Step 5
  • Add any flavouring and pour the mixture into the dish. Bake in the lower part of the oven for about 35 minutes, let it cool.
