Tips

One of the delicious things about a simple chicken noodle soup is how the noodles soak up all the delicious flavours. As such, the best noodles for chicken noodle soup are ones that will do so without becoming mushy. Remember to add the noodles as the very last thing to avoid overcooking them. The residual heat from the dish will keep cooking them even after you remove it from the heat, so it is important that you do not cook them until they become soft. Try cooking them until they are about halfway done and then letting the hot soup do the rest of the work.

Questions about noodle soup

With a quick and easy chicken noodle soup recipe like ours, making a comforting, warming bowl of soup to brighten any day is incredibly simple. Below, you can learn more about the staple comfort food by reading our answers to the most frequently asked questions about it.

What is in chicken noodle soup?
A basic chicken noodle soup features chicken, noodles, and usually a selection of vegetables. Depending on whether it has broth, stock, or cream, it may be either clear or creamy. Our tasty version features moist chicken tenderloin, thick egg noodles, and fresh vegetables like spring onions and sweet peppers in a creamy curry soup made with yellow curry and coconut milk.
How to make chicken noodle soup?
A bowl of this hearty recipe is sure to warm both body and soul! To make a quick chicken noodle soup, start by bringing the pre-made curry soup to a boil before adding the pieces of chicken, onion, and seasoning. After allowing it to boil for a short while, add egg noodles and vegetables. When the noodles are tender, season to taste, and garnish with fresh coriander. Serve with a side of wholemeal bread for a warming and filling meal.
How to thicken chicken noodle soup?
For a thicker result, simply leave out some of the water. Without the addition of all of the water, you should get a deliciously thick and creamy consistency. Or, if you already added all the liquid, make a mixture of flour or cornflour and water that you, little by little, add while stirring; this will thicken it up, too.
How long is chicken noodle soup good for?
This homemade chicken noodle soup will keep for 3-4 days in the fridge. After it has cooled, store any leftovers you may have in airtight containers. For ease, choose portion-sized ones so you can avoid reheating the entire batch if you are just grabbing a quick lunch the following day. Reheat it in the microwave or on the stovetop.
Can you freeze chicken noodle soup?
Freezing chicken noodle soup is possible for up to 4-6 months in airtight containers. However, it is best to freeze it without the noodles as they tend to soak up moisture and become mushy in the freezer. Make sure to cool the soup thoroughly, leave space in the containers for it to expand, and make sure that all pieces of chicken are covered with liquid. When you mean to eat it, allow it to thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating it and adding freshly cooked noodles.

Creamy spiced chicken noodle soup

To make the ultimate chicken noodle soup with egg noodles, we recommend using the tenderest part of the chicken, the tenderloin, to introduce a meaty, savoury flavour. The result is a wonderful curry chicken noodle soup spiced with plenty of yellow curry and cumin flavour. The spiciness is softened with coconut milk, and it is filled with moist chunks of chicken and crispy vegetables.
