Arla skyr wins Product of the Year 2016

In the largest consumer survey of its kind, Arla® skyr triumphs as Product of Year in the Yogurt category.

With more than 11,500 consumers responding to the survey across 42 FMCG categories, Product of the Year is the world’s largest consumer-voted annual award for product innovation.

Across the board, Product of the Year winners showcase innovation in the convenience and health sector, in addition to provenance. Consumers said Arla® skyr is leading the way in yogurt category in this regard, with a fat free, reduced sugar and high protein delicious silky texture, containing 30 per cent less sugar when compared with similar products in the market place.

Since its launch in March 2015, consumers up and down the country have been enjoying the taste of this healthy and delicious yogurt. As consumers look to make healthier choices, skyr is the first ‘super yogurt’ which taps into this trend.

About Product of the Year

Product of the Year is the UK’s largest independent survey into product innovation with more than 11,500 consumers voting in a survey conducted by TNS. Winning manufacturers can take heart that 86% of consumers say the endorsement of the Product of the Year logo makes them more likely to buy the product, and as many as 64% of consumers recognise the logo.[1] Research from Kantar Worldpanel shows the 14 winners from Product of the Year 2010 achieved an average of £9.2m in sales in the 12-month time period, against an average new product of £1m after one year of being launched.[2]

The initiative has been running in the UK for 12 years with the success of the scheme being launched globally in countries, including the USA, Canada, India, Brazil, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia. Winning manufacturers span global brand names, including Procter and Gamble, Reckitt Benckiser, Unilever, Tesco, PepsiCo, Nestlé, Kimberley Clark and Mars, all previous winners.
