Apple Fritters

Apple Fritters

Classic apple fritters can be made coarser by replacing a little of the flour with whole wheat flour.

Instructions

Step 1
  • Split the eggs and whip the egg whites.
Step 2
  • Then whisk the egg yolks, buttermilk and sugar together.
Step 3
  • Add wheat flour, baking soda and salt, and whisk until the mixture is even.
Step 4
  • Gently turn the whites into the dough. Pour the dough into a jug.
Step 5
  • Let the apple slices warm in a pan and add a little butter in the spaces.
Step 6
  • Fill the spaces with ¾ of dough and cook the apple slices on an even heat - occasionally turning them with tongs.
Step 7
  • Take the apple slices out of the pan, keep them warm and sprinkle them with icing sugar.
Enjoy!
Top Tip

Turn the apple slices the first time when the dough has formed crust and is light brown. There must be enough liquid dough that the apple slices can form the other side. Turn the apple slices so that they are evenly baked. Try to make apple fritters with whole grains - replace 50 g of wheat flour with 50 g of whole grain wheat flour.
