Apple gratin

There are many types of gratins. The term "gratin" refers to the browning or crust that forms on top of a dish when it is baked or broiled. You might think that apples can only be combined with sweet ingredients however you would be greatly surprised when combining with savoury ingredients. Try this delightful apple gratin consisting of apples, Castello Creamy Blue Cheese and creme fraiche and you won’t be disappointed.

Instructions

Step 1
  • Preheat the oven to 225°C.
  • Cut the apples into halves and remove the seeds. Put them in an ovenproof dish.
Step 2
  • Mash the cheese and mix it with creme fraiche. Spread the mix on top of the apples.
Step 3
  • Cook in the middle of the oven until the apples are soft and have colour after 10-15 minutes

Top Tip

Slice the apples thinly and uniformly to ensure even cooking and a consistent texture throughout the gratin.
