What does kefir taste like?

Kefir has a mild, refreshing taste with a touch of natural fizz from fermentation, similar to a drinking yoghurt but tangier. The exact flavour varies slightly between batches, as it's a live, fermented product.

Is kefir a fermented food?

Yes, kefir is a fermented milk drink. Arla Kefir Organic 1L is made by adding kefir culture to organic milk and leaving it to ferment, using real kefir grains.

Is kefir pasteurised?

Yes. Arla Kefir Organic 1L is made with pasteurised organic milk.

Can you freeze kefir?

Freezing kefir isn't recommended. It's a live, fermented product, and freezing changes the texture, so it can separate or turn grainy once thawed. Kefir is best kept refrigerated and drunk before its best before date.
