Arla Foods amba’s on account price for conventional and organic milk for June 2019 will remain unchanged, meaning Arla’s farmer-owners will continue to receive 30.23 pence for a UK manufacturing litre for conventional milk and 41.98 pence per litre for organic milk.

Arla Foods amba board director, and farmer owner, Johnnie Russell, said: “The UK continues to experience strong growth in Milk volumes compared to last year, however, overall European milk volumes remain at the same level. The organic market continues to experience pressure in some European markets. Across the commodity markets it’s a balanced picture with Milk powder prices remaining steady with strong global demand underpinning the market, continuing uncertainty in Europe holding back fat prices and Cheese prices cautiously starting to move positively over the last few weeks. It is being part of a strong European cooperative that has enabled us to hold our conventional milk price for the fifth month in a row.”

Graham Wilkinson, UK Agriculture director at Arla continues:“Consumer led innovation across the dairy category helps us to deliver a sustainable milk price for our farmer-owners. As major food trends are increasingly shaping the way we eat, the benefit of being part of a leading dairy cooperative means we can tap in to the global research and development which is key to staying one step ahead of the next big thing in both retail and foodservice. Our recent naming as the winner of The Grocer’s branded dairy category in its Supplier of the Year Awards, based on feedback from retailers, as well as the continued launch of new products, shows we are continuing to innovate and add value to the category.

“Milk is nature’s original superfood and this alongside our farmer owned status enables us to work together from farm to fork to share our story and educate people on the benefits of dairy. After welcoming more than 80,000 visitors on to our farms in 2018 we continue our support of important consumer driven initiatives, such as Cows on Tour and, for the fourth year in a row, Open Farm Sunday.”

  • Arla farmers are paid on constituents via a manufacturing schedule. For ease of comparison, the liquid price is 29.06 pence per litre based on 4% fat and 3.3% protein.
  • The adjustment for organic farmers who have decided to use EU granted exceptions to use non-organic forage will remain as a deduction of 3€c/kg.
  • Manufacturing price based on every other day collection, top quality, one million litres,4.2% butterfat, 3.4% protein.
