  • Annual global event takes place on Wednesday, 27 September
  • Over 40 countries across the world will celebrate the health benefits of milk for school children

World School Milk Day is an annual global event organised by the Food & Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations to celebrate the health benefits of school milk programs. Since its inception in 2000, over 40 countries across the world have taken part in a series of activities.

Arla actively encourages milk and dairy consumption amongst school children as part of a healthy, balanced diet and an active lifestyle. Milk is naturally rich in protein and calcium, nutrients that are needed for normal development of bone in children.

Head of Global Nutrition at Arla, Anne Louise Mørkbak said, "It is important that children and their parents understand the central role thatmilk can play in a healthy diet and World School Milk Day provides a fantastic opportunity to focus attention on milk as a highly nutritious food. By encouraging and establishing good eating habits early on, children will form healthy attitudes and behaviours towards food that will last a lifetime."

World School Milk Day 2017 takes place on Wednesday, 27 September and Arla is encouraging schools to celebrate by pouring a glass of milk and enjoying all of its natural goodness.
