The Dairy Council has announced that Ash Amirahmadi, senior vice president of sales at Arla Foods UK, has been elected chairman of The Dairy Council.

Ash Amirahmadi said today: “It is a privilege to take on the role of chairman of this organisation which has a proud record in communicating the many benefits of dairy.”

The Dairy Council is a non-profit making organisation which provides science-based information on the role of dairy foods as part of a healthy, balanced and sustainable diet. It provides evidenced based information to health professionals, the media, industry and consumers.

The appointment underlines Arla’s commitment to become the champion of British dairy. Earlier this year, Arla launched its UK Strategy 2020 plan, it’s most ambitious business plan to date, with the aim to make Arla synonymous with dairy health and to increase dairy consumption. One of the 2020 commitments is to invest over £100 million in promoting a series of new healthier dairy products and campaigns to encourage more nutritious eating habits and challenge some of the current myths about dairy.
