Arla Foods amba maintains milk price for September

Following a period of milk price reductions, the Arla Foods amba on-account price will remain unchanged for September 2015 for its 13,500 owners, including 3,000 from the UK.

Commenting on the decision, Ash Amirahmadi, head of milk and member services at Arla Foods UK, said:

”We are in a position to hold our milk price for September, based on our current and future business performance. However, we must remain cautious; the global dairy market remains volatile and it is too early to indicate whether the tide has turned because farmer milk production remains high on a global level, against a backdrop of restricted demand.”

Jonathan Ovens, Arla Foods amba farmer board director, added: ”We are encouraged by the significant level of support we are receiving from our customers, both in the UK and throughout our global business, and are doing everything we can to help our farmers navigate through this difficult period.

”We have launched our farmer-owned marque throughout the UK and our global business. It has been received favourably with our farmers and customers and is gathering momentum.”
