Arla Foods has expanded UHT production at its Settle creamery which has resulted in the site doubling its capacity of its square UHT carton to boost production and enable the company to meet current and future demand.
A new high-speed UHT filler has been installed at the site, which is now fully operational and has the capacity to fill up to 15,000 screw cap square cartons per hour.
The new filler, which will supplement the creamery’s existing UHT fillers, was installed as a result of increased demand from Arla’s major retail customers.
Craig Newton, Settle’s UHT and butter production manager, said: “The site was barely able to cope with the current production levels so it was necessary to increase capacity if we were to meet additional increased demand for UHT milk.
“This is a significant development for the creamery and will enable the company to meet future demand requirements.”
