Elimination Diet

If you’ve tried our quick Discovery tool and would like to discover more about your lactose intolerance you can take our elimination diet.

Introduction

The elimination diet isn’t a program to lose weight, you simply remove lactose from your diet for 14 days while introducing Lactofree® so you can still have the foods you love without the digestive discomfort. Most people can successfully undertake an elimination diet without the help of a doctor, however if you have any concerns whatsoever, you should consult your GP or a health care professional.

DIET OVERVIEW

STEP 1

Remove all dairy and other lactose containing food products for 14 days, replacing milk, butter, cheese, cream and yogurt with the Lactofree range

STEP 2

Reintroduce lactose with a glass of regular milk to confirm your lactose intolerance.

STEP 1: ELIMINATING LACTOSE

To establish your lactose intolerance, you need to remove dairy and other lactose containing foods for 14 days. But remember you can replace milk, butter, cheese, cream, and yogurt with the Lactofree® range  delicious dairy products, just without the lactose.

It’s not easy to know the contents of everything you eat, so we have created the lactose detector tool for you to double check any food items you’re still unsure about.

To help you keep track of the foods you are eliminating and to monitor your symptoms, you might find it useful to keep a food diary. You can also visit the Lactofree® Facebook page to gain tips and advice from our Lactofree® online community.

STEP 2: Reintroducing Lactose

This part of the diet helps you to confirm that the cause of your symptoms were due to lactose intolerance. This can be uncomfortable but it is important to ensure you get a clear diagnosis.

Simply drink a glass of regular milk and if your symptoms reoccur, it can be concluded that you are lactose intolerant, but you don’t need to worry as you can continue to enjoy the taste and nutritional benefits of real dairy without the lactose with the Lactofree® range

If you don’t experience reocurring symptoms, it is unlikely that lactose intolerance is the cause of your discomfort and you should visit your doctor for further advice.
