Name: Mette Bakman
Title: Research Scientist, Microbiology and Protein Chemistry
Location: Innovation Centre Brabrand, DK

I use my specialist protein chemistry knowledge in connection with research activities, product and technology development as well as specific problem-solving at the dairies. My work is project-based, meaning I perform both project manager and project participant tasks.

The research projects are typically carried out in cooperation with various partner universities, which gives me access to the most recent trends within my field. It's of course exciting and challenging to work with some of the most competent scientists within protein chemistry, and to help applying new knowledge and methods to Arla Foods.

I was attracted to Arla Foods because the prospect of combining specialist work with project management intrigued me a lot. Furthermore, it is very fruitfull to use your specialist knowledge to solve specific challenges at the dairies and in connection with development of new products and technologies.

To me, 'being a force of nature' is a very tangible matter of getting the best out of milk's natural proteins and enzymes in order to create tasty and functional dairy products.
