Co-operative

At Arla, we are owned by the same farmers that supply our natural, nutritious milk. And because we are farmer owned, we have complete control of the value chain, from farm to fridge.

Animal Welfare

Animal Welfare

All our cows have access to grazing, so long as weather conditions allow, and provided it will not compromise their health or welfare.

All our C.A.R.E farms are independently audited by Map of Ag, using in-depth data to confirm our cows are enjoying optimal conditions.

Renewable energy

All our Arla C.A.R.E farms have a green energy plan for the increased use of renewable energy sources and to reduce overall energy consumption. As a company, we’re also aiming to be entirely carbon neutral by 2050, continually reducing our carbon footprint until then.

Ecosystems

All our Arla C.A.R.E farms have committed to implementing at least five activities that help support natural ecosystems and biodiversity, such as the creation of habitats and havens for wildlife, and wildflower patches for pollinators and to help increase local biodiversity.

Taking action for a better future

As Arla farmers we are dependent on nature and we have a responsibility for climate change. That’s why we are taking actions to improve how we farm and produce dairy for you and your family.

We inspire, push and reward each other to continuously do better. To reduce our carbon footprint. And improve protection of nature. Want to know more?

Our responsibility

ARLA UK 360 PROGRAMME

The Arla UK 360 programme covers the six areas essential to building a profitable, responsible dairy farm business. It incorporates best practice in today's dairy farming across animal health and welfare, people development, environment and natural resources, community engagement and economic resilience and reinvestment.

It is a vision of how we help drive sustainable businesses for UK dairy farmers, and continues the journey of our owners in driving a sustainable business, as stewards of the countryside and a critical part of UK food production.

Watch out for our new packaging

Look for the Free to Graze logo on Arla Cravendale, Arla B.O.B, and Arla Big Milk, so you know the milk in your fridge has been made by cows free to graze in the open air.
