Dairy overview
- Arla is developing a fresh milk dairy on a 115-acre site adjacent to the A41 on the outskirts of Aylesbury.
- The dairy will process and package up to one billion litres of milk a year from British farms.
- Arla aims for the dairy to be operational by summer 2013.
- The dairy will create approximately 700 new jobs, which would be advertised locally.
- Up to 1,000 construction jobs will also be created during development.
- The dairy will deliver a £20 million annual wages bill, much of which will benefit local shops, businesses and leisure facilities, bringing an economic boost to the area.
- Arla will encourage apprenticeship and training opportunities.
- Aylesbury dairy is part of Arla’s growth strategy, providing milk to retailers across the South East.
- There are ambitions for the dairy to be one of the most environmentally advanced in the world and Arla is seeking to deliver a zero carbon facility with zero waste to landfill. Advanced construction techniques, process technologies and renewable energy solutions would be used.
